Cool EDGE network connectivity problems

I upgraded my Cingular phone today to a SonyEricsson W810i (from the older model T616). I had always used the Bluetooth feature on the T616 to connect to the Internet using my iPAQ hw2495. The new phone runs on the EDGE network rather than GPRS and the Bluetooth phone manager (under "Operator settings") on the iPAQ can't seem to detect it. The devices are paired but the dial-up modem fails to establish a connection.

I'm open to any and all suggestions.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Many cell phones have downgraded Bluetooth so you can't pair them with other devices.

Have you verified that the bluetooth connection has a dialup profile, and that it is connected sucessfully?

One the dial up profile is connected, make sure the connection settings are correct, see this link for the settings:

The GPRS/EDGE/UMTS connection has no differences, and the phone will automatically connect to whichever service is available transparently. You need to do nothing special for that.

Thanks very much - I'll check the connection settings and see if that resolves the problem.
