I have a Prius (love it) with the "smart key" option, which means that I don't need a physical key - everything works as long as I have the smart electronic key in my pocket. (I think it works via bluetooth).
I noticed that sometimes the system didn't work - I couldn't open the doors or turn on the ignition. Couldn't work out why, because it always worked when I took the "key" out of my pocket.

Then I realized that this only happened if I had my iPAQ and the smart key in the same pocket! It doesn't matter if the iPAQ is turned on or off - if it is in the proximity of the Prius' smart key it renders it inoperable.
My guess is that the bluetooth or Wi-Fi antenna in the iPAQ is absorbing energy from the smart key's transmitter. :)
