Can't get my HX2495b to read an 8GB microdrive

Its one of the "embedded use only" Seagate drives but I got my computer to be able to read it in a card reader so I can assume its unlocked now. Can someone help me?n It works just fine in my card reader but not my iPAQ.

"Embedded use only" What does that mean? If the microdrive was originally installed in an IPOD, it has an IDE interface. Most microdrives that are "harvested" from players don't work with pocket pcs for this reason and there is no way to make them work.

Well, I did harvest it from a IOMAGIC GIGABANK but I got the drive to work on a card reader so that means its out of IDE mode right? Can you go on AIM?

It may work on your computer, but it will not work with your pocket pc.

It will not work at all in your PPC. The Micro Drive that you harvested will only work in the device from which originally manufactured for. Yes, your computer will recognize it because it doesn't know the difference. I simply thinks it is talking to the device.

The only Seagate Mirco drives that will work in your device will have a blue/orange label on them. Personally I would steer clear of the Micro Dives anyway. Buy a solid state CF card that will not put extra drain on your battery.
