I'd go with:
1) throw it in the trash
2) buy a new device (even a used or refurb one)

fighting a device with a broken screen is just going to be a constant frustration. Cut your losses and invest in a new one

I have invested in a new display 70 USD + 30 USD for shipping :)

'Till the new display arrives I'm trying to set up the device to use via remote desktop on the PC, but to do that I need to connect the device via activesync and I need to get past the calibration screen!!!!

I cannot quite recall the order and process for calibrating the screen - but if the screen is broken then more than likely the receptors for the calibration process are not going to work for you anyway. I think that the first location is the center - next to the upper left - lower right - upper right then lower left. Even if you get close (and it recognizes the touch) it should let you pass - guess it just depends on how badly broken the screen is.

Good luck!
