iPaq HX4705 vs. Fujitsu Loox 720?
Hey, like the ASUS 720, the Loox 720 is pretty good also.

Would anyone ever consider buying the Loox 720, which is hard to come by in the USA.

Here is more details on the the Loox 720.

They both look really nice but they're both way to expensive for me...

BTW, maybe a dell VGA device might suit me

Don't know why they did not use the 624 processor like the Dell and the 4700. The differnce in everyday use may be minimal but if I'm going to drop 6 bills I want to know that I have the latest and greatest.

I believe that the HX4705 is more than the Loox 720.

From what I have been told, the x30 and 4700 use the PXA270 CPU which comes as max 624mhz.

The Loox uses the PXA272 which max is 520mhz. However, Fujitsu obvious think that the other advantages of the 272 CPU outweigh the extra mhz. I'm not saying they are right or wrong - I guess we'll have to wait and see. The 272 has more memory on board doesnt it ? Maybe this has speed advantages.

Can't find the Loox 720 anywhere.
Makes me wonder why such a sweet sounding machine does not have more market share?

But I would love one. It has a jog-dial that I miss from my Sony-Clie days. In addition, it doesn't have that infernal touch pad that is essentially useless. If you find it for sale anywhere, let me know.

The LOOX is great, except
also, the LOOX just recetnly got FCC approval to be sold in the us (it's a broadcasting device) and so heretofore has been essentially unavailable in the us.

furthermore, the LOOX comes with WM5 which apparently has some bugs in it....

And, finnally, the LOOX has a street price of around 570, which is painful.

-illusivone

PS: the LOOX screen is slightly smaller too.

As far as I know the differences is that the 520 MHZ has a USB host capabilities within its CPU (and the 624 doesn’t).

There's a shocker--MS software with bugs.

As for the price--I assume you're talking USD, not GBP or Euros. The 4705 cost more than that when it was released.

I mean, not to say that cheaper wouldn't be welcome.

LOOX 720 is quite a machine
I cant' abide the iPaq's touch pad, and the LOOX has a jog dial.

If they sold/supported LOOX in the U.S. (like Darth Vader) I might consider going over to the dark side. But then, it's last years model, something else is bound to come and shake-up the waters.

Any day now....

I'm with you on those. About the onl thing i use my touch pad for is keeping the light on when i'm using GPS in the car.

Yeah. Oh, I'll get the upgrade for my 4700, but I may cross over and get an x51v or the next version of the LOOX if something comes out before I am ready to buy.

Loox 720
I'd definitly jump at the LOOX (miss that jog dial) but I wont buy a Dell. I find their equipments have a "cheap" feel. They dont feel like quality. And every day you use it you're reminded that you opted for a low end product.
