I am still using my iPaq 3835 but I really hate how long it takes to install software when I have a lot installed. The window in ActiveSync that says Retriving Device Information or something like that takes forever. When I used to have my WiFi card, I could sync wirelessly about 60% faster (if I remember correctly). I'm hoping that with USB 2.0, I will be able to copy 380 mb movies to my SD card really fast without removing it from the device and placing it in a separate USB 2.0 reader. Why didn't HP put two SD readers and a CF slot in the HX4705?

BTW - Rome called yesterday while I was away and left a message about the delayed iPaq ship date - that was kind of him.

Did you know that you can install software over WiFi? Maybe that will speed things up for you.

You can transfer files from your computer to your iPAQ over WiFi, too. Use File Explorer's built-in network browser.

Cost, size, battery life -- pick one. I'd love a Pocket PC with three built-in slots, but no Pocket PC has that. In fact, the only Pocket PCs that support three slots at all are sleeve-compatible iPAQs in dual-slot sleeves.

That's one more reason that I'm disappointed HP killed sleeves.

I know, but I sold my CF card about 6 months ago because I knew I would upgrade ipaqs and the value would only go down over time. I actually sold it about 6 months after I bought it (or longer) and got about the same price out of it that I paid!

The bottleneck will be the Compact Flash Card. Good Cards are capable of max. 2,5MByte/s, which is much more than the average card...

Remember also that if you are transferring these files via Active Sync they are going to go pretty slowly. Very large files, such as a 300MB+ movie will likely stall out or cause reset issues if sent via Active Sync.

A smarter way to handle may be investing 20 bucks in a Card Reader. That way files can be sent back and forth very quickly without involving WiFi, Active Sync or the device at all.

I don't particularly like sleeves, but what they should do, to make everyone happy, is to make Pocket PCs with the CF and SD slots ON the Pocket PC, but still the option to add more via sleeve.
