Graphics chips? Intel 2700G or ATI?
It sounds like in an earlier discussion on brighthand,
ATI processor pictures on brighthand forum

several people were talking like the 4700 has a graphics processor When I read the other thread, it sounds like the 4700 does have an ATI graphics processor. I want to confirm the 4700 does or doesn't have the Intel graphics chip, 2700G5 or what ever number it may be AND OR if it has or doesn't have the ATI Imageon 2320 or what ever number. Could it have both?

The Intel® 2700G multimedia accelerator is a companion chip that, when paired with the Intel® PXA27x processor family, delivers hardware-accelerated video and graphics for handheld devices. The Intel 2700G enables rich 2D and 3D graphics, high-quality video playback and enterprise-worthy dual display without sacrificing battery life.

Intel's multimedia accelerator line features two products that differ in their on-die memory configurations for low power display refresh. The Intel® 2700G3 has 384 KB on-die memory and the Intel® 2700G5 has 704 KB on-die memory and is optimized for VGA resolution display devices.

ATI chip:
Advanced 2D Graphics

Font caching
Font anti-aliasing
Scaling
90 degree rotation
Gouraud shading

3D Graphics
Complete geometry processing and pixel rendering pipeline
Texture combine & mip-map
Per-pixel perspective correction
Bilinear and Trilinear filtering
Dithering
Vertex fog, Specular color and Alpha blending
8/16-bpp destination

MPEG 4 Decoder
iDCT engine
Motion Compensation
MPEG-4 decode at 30-fps

JPEG Codec
Hardware DCT and iDCT support
Supports resolution up to 2M pixels
Produces CCITT T.81 compliant baseline sequential JPEG scan
Real-time encoding of up to 30 fps VGA images

Frame Buffer
IMAGEON 2300
Embedded memory provides double-buffer support for up to QVGA (320x240) resolution
IMAGEON 2320
Extended frame buffer
2MB of ultra low-power stacked SDRAM
Supports advanced 3D gaming and high resolution video.

No, I don't think, but the Intel® PXA27x processor family does natively support the Intel 2700Gx graphic "chips". It also supports cameras and other multimedia and cellular functions/devices, IF a manufacturer decides to build one into their device AND use the Intel provided subsystems...

I could be totally wrong, but I don't think HP is using the Imageon 2300 chipset AS IS because that was designed for cell phones. ATI does market the 2300 for PocketPC Phone editions though, but only with QVGA (320x240) resolution.

The Imageon 3200 can do VGA but is two years old and is 2nd generation for ATI. I think the Toshiba e series PPC uses this...

The rumor at PocketPC Thoughts http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/foru...c.php?p=275149
is use of a Imageon 3220 based on FCC records.

I know it is no big deal, but it is fun to speculate...

This site (found with Google) http://www.int13.net/gxmark_results.htm shows the Toshiba e800 using the ATI Imageon 3220 with an older 400mhz processor...The 3220 has 2mb on-board.
