Touchpad overlay lifting!
OK, this is kinda cheesey... on the bottom right corner of my touchpad, by the itask button, the corner of the overlay is lifting. It kinda makes a sharp corner that catches my right ring-finger when I use the stylus since I rest my fingers there while I tap/type. Anyone else experience this? I baby this iPaq too! Anyone know if there are replacements available?

For something this expensive and new, I'd be taking mine back to the dealer and getting another one.

I was thinking about that but I bet they would just blame me... I will give them a call though. Time to test eCost's customer service...

Crap.. you're right! Mines doing it at the bottom left ;-;! Thats terrible Problem with taking it back is that software which you register may not work on the new device... so thats a hassle in itself (getting the new codes) :\

I dont believe its serious. Theres no real risk of it completely peeling up. What it is... is that the actual surface is stuck onto a foam backing which is what gives it its springiness. The foam doesnt appear to go right to the edge, so theres about half a millimeter of surface plastic overlapping around the edge which can be easily creased/ bent out of shape. It just looks kinda ugly, but I dont think theres any risk of it becoming worse.

Yeah, I agree. It's not bad. I did "submit a case" with HP support to see what they would say or do. If they have me send it back for repair, I may do that. I have had good luck with that in the past. If they say anything else, I may just let it go. It looks like I could put a tiny dab of superglue on the corner and push it down with a pin to get it to stay... That would be my last choice.
I expect many more people will see this happen...

Sounds like a design flaw, that the touchpad surface should extend to under the face frame as in a notebook, but this would require a beveled edge, so the pad surface would be recessed. Go luck!

Its not the touchpad surface itself... its the black plastic around it. I agree, its a bad design since it just "stops" and theres a small gap where the case starts again. The photo attached doesnt really show it peeling up... its too hard to get a photo close and clear enough to see that, but the corner is SLIGHTLY dog-eared.

HP is sending me an overnight box to send my iPaq in to repair this.
I had to send my h5550 in, like this, to have work done and the total turn around time was 4 days. So, I am hoping this will be fast too. I am glad they were willing to do this without any questions.
I'll post when it is back!

Well... HP says it will cost me $168 to replace the bezel on the unit! They say it is accidental damage. I told them to forget it and send it back. I will fix it myself. It is a very minor corner. It must be defective but how can I convince them when they made up their mind already? That sucks, but I will live.......
