Stopped Sync
Hello All,
I have an IPAQ 4755 and up until a few days ago it was working fine. I have searched the forums and haven't found a similar problem. The notification of meetings has stopped showing up, there is a Bell in the lower right corner that won't go away and when I reboot the iPAQ it shows a reminder message, but it is blank and shows up again at reboot. I can't even hook it to my computer to wipe it out and start over.

Does anyone know what may be happening and how I can get it to start synching again. I have tried reinstalling the activesync software. This is driving me nuts.

Have you Hard reset your PDA?

I had a similar problem after playing about with caligrapher. A hard reset is what I'd try. With all the problems with existing software it will be prudent to do regular backups as you experiment with things.
Things will certainly improve. It'll just take a while for updates to account for the new hardware.
Good luck.

Portree - welcome to the forums

Yours is a problem I haven't come across before - but there a couple of things to try to solve the problem.

Can you remember if you installed any software just before the issue started? if so, my first port of call would be to unistall that software and see if that solves the issue.

I haven't heard of a a bell showing up in the bottom corner before - but it sounds as though an added application is doing that as a notification - as it is not a default windows function - again if you can find what software is putting the bell there - try uninstalling that and see if the issue is resolved.

As a final step a hard reset will completely clear your machine of all programmes and data (not from the filestore or any storage cards - you will need to delete programmes from these manually).

Don't forget to back-up your data first though . You don't need to back-up Outlook information on your device as this will be resync'd when you reconnect to your PC after the hard reset (I may be paranoid - and I know that this syncing is going to happen - but I ALWAYS perform an export from desktop outlook of my complete outlook information before I do this - just in case )

After the hard reset I would install my applications one by one and see which one causes the issue to resurface - you may still be able to use that software as there are probably settings that you can change to adjust how you are notified - but if there are not then I would find another application that doesn't cause the issue.

Let us know how you get on - as I said - haven't come across the issue before and would like to know what caused it.

Well, even though my alarms are working, I too at times see the orange reminder in my bottom task bar. It doesn't respond to any stylus touches and just sits there. When I get tired of seeing it and soft-reset, a reminder pops up.

No solutions, but I can empathize!

the bell
i could be wrong, but that BELL is an icon stating that the device will play a sound when active sync is started, its an option that you can turn on and off in the power area i believe, as for your jam up.. with the 4700 ( its all i know) you have minimal tools to to do actual diagnostics and error logs, so
you really only have one solution, HARD RESET..
