Possible fix to the gaming problem
I ordered my hx4705 from amazon a week ago. Waiting for it to ship. I'm a serious gamer and when I came across this forum I became disheartened hearing about how the touchpad renders gaming impossible. I was wondering if the BenQ Gamepad would work with the hx4705. It isn't designed for it so it won't fit on the 4705, but the are extender cables so you could still connect it. Any thoughts? I hope this works. If no one knows I might try it when my ppc finally arrives. But if it doesn't work I don't think we will have to wait too long for someone to either develope a gamepad for the hx4705 or there will be a bluetooth option. But the waiting around for the developers....

Man-n-n-n-n-n-n you are quite crafty and apparently determined. I see no reason why it would not work. The cable appears customizeable and gomadic gives you pin outs to boot. They even recommend it for developers.... You have quite a head start. Keep us posted, take pictures as you try the mod, and post some directions as well.
Keep us posted man.

check this out
After searching around for a little bit I found a gamepad with a universal interface and moblie 2003 drivers. It looks kinda cool but I don't think they're selling it yet. Someone should make a bluetooth controller.

the other night i was at circuit city and i saw a product that stuck onto the input panel of a palm device with a driver... it made the touch screen into a d-pad style interface and apparently it added a cursor sorta thing on the screen... i dont know but i think something could be done with our touchpad (i hope)

A couple of developers actually did this a few years ago for the Gravis Stinger serial gamepad. Check out this thread over on Brighthand:

http://discussion.brighthand.com/sho...pagenu mber=1

From the 4th page of that thread you can still download one of those drivers (iStinger). After quite a search, nobody seems able to locate the other driver which was called cgmapper.

I actually have the gomadic serial adapter AND a gravis stinger AND an hx4700...but the iPAQ is in for servicing due to wifi problems , so I haven't tried it out yet.

Crafty indeed. If you can get the gamepad to work then there will be a ton of hx4700 users that will be thrilled.

I use the Zeta and it works fine. A bit on the pricey side, though.

Sorry for the slow response. The Gravis works, but with a substantial lag between button presses and their registration on the ipaq. So unfortunately I really can't recommend it.
