Inferfacing my own USB device
Hi Guys,
I'm doing a a university project, using sonar sensors to locate objects.
I want to take these signals, digitise them and send them into a PDA. I have found a USB inferface card ( Venneman F8055 ).
Someone has suggested a CF card will allow the PDA to behave as a USB host, to connect up mass storage devices etc. (USB 1.1 Host Adapter CF Card CFU1U).
Does anyone know if this works with any USB 1.1 compliant device (it says it should work with keyboards, mass storage ... but i don't know what else)? Are there any issues with this regarding drivers for arbitrary USB devices? Does anyone know if the standard Windows 9X or XP drivers for our USB device will compile and run on the Windows running on the IPAQs? How compatible is Windows on the IPAQ for USB device drivers?
There are also COM port CF cards available. Would anyone recommend it would be easier to use one of them instead of USB? Anyone done it?
Any thoughts or help would be very much apprechiated.
Cheers
Manish
