IPAQ 4700 connected but no InternetExplorer
I am having wireless issues with my IPAQ4705. I can connect to the internet on my neighbors network (when I am outside my house) but I can't connect to my own Network. I am clueless as to all this wireless jargon. All I can say is that the Ipaq "says" that I am connected to my network, but I can't browse. I have WinXP and a Netgear WGR614v1 router. My Ipaq is on the list of "wireless card access list". This is the same router I used on my old Win98 computer and I connected fine with my old (crushed...a hurricane fell on it) Ipaq5555. I know I am rambling, but I don't understand all this stuff! Also, I have a program called vmNetworkBrowser which recognized my home network as "Unknown", if that is any help. How do you guys understand all this stuff!!!! Must just be a "guy" thing.

Hi Jaypeach and welcome to the site!

There are a number of things that could be causing you problems regarding your Wifi Router.

1. Your router maybe setup to not broadcast the SSID.
2. MAC Filtering. Your router could be setup to do MAC filtering and your MAC is not in the table.
3. DHCP. Your PPC maybe connecting fine but you are not getting a good IP address for your particular network.

Here are some suggestions:
1. Check your routers documentation and make sure that it is configured properly. Make sure that you disable MAC filtering and turn on SSID broadcast to atleast get connected. Once connected you can lock things down.

2. Your Wifi Router should support DHCP address leases. Make sure that the DHCP configuration on your router matches the network that you have.

3. Check out wifi.aximsite.com. This is our Wifi Guide by ikehiker of this site. It has alot of useful Wifi information that you could use.
