What is the BEST available case?
Right now, I am using the Brando side-open case ( http://www.ppcpathways.com/cgi-bin/r...mber=12&page=0 ) and that is my review but I was wondering if anyone knows of any other excellent cases. My personal opinion of the Brando is that it is the best case I have ever seen. Even though it has the strap closing method, the magnet is so powerful that it works great. Besides that, it is very nice looking and it has a lot of open pockets for cards and other things. They also make a top open case which I have but I have not tried using yet. The side-open case calso doesn't use velcro, like some do--and I hate velcro--but it uses plastic clips and a little nubbie that "clicks" into the hx4700 when it goes under the screw hole that has the HP logo in it.

I prefer the metal cases. What I would like is a combination of the two available (InnoPocket and PDair). I want:

2 SD slots (InnoPocket)
Flush back without the belt clip (PDair)
The ability to flip cover all the way around to the back (I don't think either)

I'm waiting for the RhinoSkin Titanium myself. The one for the axim looked great, and hopefully they will come out with an ipaq version.

Why do you prefer metal cases? Please go to my site and vote that you want protection over size but you will have to use this address. The case review I wrote has not been published to my site yet but it is available through a direct URL and I did this because I want to spread out my reviews
http://www.ppcpathways.com/cgi-bin/r...mber=12&page=0

My personal preference is to have a leather case with some rigidness to it. The metal cases seem to be almost hard on the ipaq by themselves but they do have their uses. Also, I have never tried one, so if I did try one, I might like it.

I don't find the metal cases to be larger than the leather. I keep my ipaq in my briefcase and prefer one that cannot be "poked" by anything. I think it offers more protection against bumps, too.

But it is an acquired look

Any good metal or titanium case has full neoporine inners, or some other very soft shock and scratch protection. I tend to not like leather cases because they don't give good protection to the screen. If I sit on it I want peace of mind that I didn't bend the leather. Not to mention leather tends to rip and tear. Metal cases are slimmer and obviously give more protection. They cover the entire device like a mold, and they are definatly much slimmer than leather or full neoprene cases.

I hope to go to get a nice case and take it to a local car paint shop and get it powder coated. That should make it look nice.

Can you list some of your favorite metal cases so I can check them out, please?

I LOVE the RhinoSkin brand, but they only make them for the dell axim x5/x3. Second would have to be Innopocket.

I believe the only two metal cases for the 4705 (right now anyway) are PDair and InnoPocket. Very similar.

I bought a Proporta leather case with aluminium reinforcing. It's not bad looking, although it does look a bit too much like a girly purse for a big hairy bloke like me, and it seems pretty solid.

I don't like having to remove the transparent plastic screen protector to put the clips on the iPAQ to hold it in the case, and it took quite a bit of fiddling to figure out how to carry the detached cover inside the case. It's also a bit fiddly to get the stylus out of the iPAQ when it's in the case. Access to the SD socket is good. The charge/synch socket is easily accessible with a charge/synch cable but obviously you have to take the iPAQ out of the case to use the cradle.

It's got 2 holders for SD/CF cards and a couple of pockets.

Hard Cases are the best.

Over the years I have had a wide variety of leather cases. When I got my 2215 I had 4 leather cases before I settled on a Rhinoskin Aluminum. I loved it and you can not beat the protection.

Now that I have the HX4700 I have had 2 leather cases until I purchased both the PDAair and the Innopocket. I have had the Innopocket for 2 days now. I love the PDAair but I love the Innopocket more I think. It is smooth, has a dual slot storage for SD, Scratch resistant, medal pin for the belt clip, and rubber grips on the sides of the case. I am going to post my opinions on both in another thread here and on Brighthand.

The Hard cases rule. I love the way they feel and protect.

What about for extended batteries?
I've used both leather and metal cases. I actually like both and it depends on where I'm going as to which case I'll use. But now I've got a different problem. Has anyone heard of a case, metal or leather, that can be used with the extended battery attached to the 4700? I've heard a lot of people getting the extended battery, but, as of yet, have not heard of any cases that will work with it. Right now I'm using an old case, made for a Sony Clie, that I've modified, but it's a hack job at best.

I just received my Innopocket case for the 2215, and I like this one alot. I was using the leather case, but I too carry my ipaq in my (soft leather) briefcase and didn't want to accidently crush the ipaq. .:: A+ for this case ::.

Well guess what, I have an Innopocket on the way! If anyone is interested, as soon as I get it, I will write a nice long review for it and you can all judge for yourself. I am also eager to see what the results are and how I will like it. If I remember correctly, I think they said it will be just under a week when I receive it. You can look forward to that--much more than getting up at 5:00 tomorrow to go save a few bucks--well, hopefully you'll save a little more. Where are you guys all planning on shopping tomorrow or if anywhere? I think I'll go to Best Buy really early because they have some good deals but one thing I don't get is why they advertise a 256 and 512mb sd/cf card but they don't have anything for 1gb or higher! I already have 2 512mb's (I paid like 3x what they are listed here for, though!) and I would like to get a 2gb or 4gb CF and a 1gb SD.

Does the Innoocket have a good belt clip? If so, anyone have a good retail or web outlet to recommend?
