Wifi problems ... only connect when in cradle?
When I'm in my cradle I can connect to the internet, when I'm not, I can't.

I have a Netgear wireless router that works great with my Palm Tungsten.

Can anyone please help????

Hi MrVegas welcome to the site

It sounds as though you haven't yet set-up wifi on your iPaq - I recommend that you read the Wifi guide written by Ikehiker - a moderator here - you can find the guide HERE

Thanks for the quick response. I am going to read it right now. By the way, my iPAQ has the blue light always on when not in the cradle.

In the "Configure Wireless Network" screen it seems to have "found" my NETGEAR network name in the general tab. On the Network Key tab it says:

Authentication: Open
Data Encryption: WEP
There is a check mark for the "Key is provided automatically"
And in the network key box there are about 12 asterisks greyed out

Hey Rob ...

if you go to his section on http://wifi.aximsite.com/axim-03.html,
he has a screen shot called WM03-4 which has a red arrow pointing to the Network Card button. I *don't* have the Network Card button.

Hi MrVegas -

Have you followed all the steps up to that point?

Unfourtunately that is about as much help as I can be at the moment (not had any real experience with wifi) - but the author of the guide (ikehiker) will be along later and I am sure that he will be able to shed light on your problem

Also try doing a search on this forum to see if it is a common issues

The "Key ... automatically" box should definitely not be checked.

If you are using WEP on your router, enter the key into the iPaq in hexidecimal format. It would actually be worthwhile to temporarily remove the security features from your router until you are able to connect and then add whatever you want to use back, one at a time.

I haven't seen an iPaq with built-in wireless but I assume HP has included some kind of wireless LAN utility and it should have access to the information that you can reach from the Network Card option. In fact, the items you listed which I copied above are the ones you'd find through that link.
