SMTP connection problems
I have tried to access several outgoing SMTP mail servers with mixed results. My iPAQ 4705 is "talking" to my Linksys router (802.11 wireless) which is connected to a cable modem and Comcast as the cable provider. From my iPAQ I can send mail via smtp.comcast.net (with Authentication checked) as long as I am using the Comcast account in Messaging which is setup with pop.comcast.net as my input server. However my Yahoo, Juno and Attglobal account setups all receive email via the respective pop servers but I cannot send any email with their smtp servers nor with the smtp.comcast.net server. I use Yahoo Webmail via IE on the iPAQ and it works fine so I have a way to send mail even if I am away from the effective range of my Linksys and in the range of another wireless network (which there are many of here in Boulder, Colorado). Any help would be greatly appreciated.http://www.ipaqhq.com/forums/newthre...ewthread&f=44#

I use smtp.mail.yahoo.com for outgoing mail and it works fine. Sometimes I get an error, but I think it is like any other time a web based server is down or busy.

Well, your first problem is your that you're using Comcast. (I'd not use it except that there's no DSL 20,000 feet from a CO.) I don't think Comcast blocks ports as some ISPs do, so that shouldn't be a problem. However, I would check to see if any ports are blocked. Are you using the built-in mail client or a different one?
