Yippee it's here!

I know alot of you guys have had your 4700 or other PDAs a long while, but I have just got my first PDA & it is a 4700. This was a big decission that I have agonised over & could only justify the expense because I gave up the dreaded weed last August. This is my present to myself & I am so excited. Christmas has come early to this little boy!

Now all I have to do is wait for it to charge up.

Any starter advice for the new member to this exclusive club? I'm sure I'll be back with loads of questions. Thanks all for your advice so far.

David

Hi David - welcome to the site and congratulations on your purchase (and giving up smoking ).

As a newbie the best bit of advice I could give is to read the tutorial that I have linked at the top of my MyPDA section on the left of the screen and also not to be afraid to ask any question you need (especially if searching for it doesn't help).

Welcome David,

Another suggestion would be to get a good screen protector ASAP. Part of the pricey 4700 is it's beautiful VGA screen. After time it will not look as good with stylus scratches all over it.

Here is a link to a good screen protector forum

David,

Welcome.

One of the best site in the UK is Expansys.com, which you might already know, listed more than 800 accessories associated with Hx4700 with different categories. I think you might be interested in.

http://www.expansys.com/accessory.as...IPAQ_HX4700_UK

I agree with Blueradish that you should get your hands on the screen protector.

I had the WriteShield AG (Anti-glare) + C2 (clear screen) screen protector pack. http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?...IPAQ_HX4700_UK

And I'm using the C2 (clear screen) one, it shows me as crystal clear as without the protector on. Beautiful.

Also if you are travelling a lot or using it a lot in the office, you might want to get a USB sync-charger as well.

Anyway, I'm sure you will have a lot of fun with your 4700.

Welcome to IpaqHQ! Not bad for your first PDA. If you are planning on watching movies I would highly recommend Pocket DVD studio and of course betaplayer.

I watched Half Baked on the airplane last night. In betaplayer, of course. Glad I found a way to have both.

Thanks guys So Much.

I've ordered Boxwaves screen protectors, Looking at cases & car mount and decided I will have to get Tom Tom 3 for sat Nav. I am begining to see that the price of the 4700 is only half of it.

This forum is great. You've all been really helpful in giving advice & information that lead me to my purchase & I hope now to get the most from it.

Now off to get it synced with my email I hope

Cheers

Yeh I did get a couple of emails. The guy said he didn't have any in stock but could special order & was unsure of the postage. He quoted a price about £40 higher than it is here and with postage makes it more so I might just get the whole lot (Europe and North America maps) here. But Thank you for the contact & I might change my mind yet.

Having fun getting to know my 4700; may bother you for more info again if that is OK.
