New Sticky Thread for the 4700 forum?
Hi guys. Might I request a new sticky in the 4700 forum?

I'm trying to get a handle on memory management/tweaking/configuration on the 4700. Mine will be here Friday. I can’t open it until X-Mas Eve.

I’ve been using three sites to get my info on the 4700: brighthand, pocketpcthoughts, and here. In all three sites memory questions are very prevalent. I see that there is a hx4700 series FAQ as a sticky but might I suggest a "4700 memory management FAQ" that contains things such as lists of tools such as MemMaid, tweaks2k2, Where’s my RAM, etc. Which folders can be deleted or moved from RAM to iFS or SD/CF to free space. Etc. It seems like there could be some consolidation in the questions that are being raised. Just a thought.

By the way. Here is a useful link to Rob's MyPDA: http://www.ipaqhq.com/forums/vbgarag...=view&id=12136

This should answer a lot of your above questions.

Attached is an excellant thread on ways to reduce main memory in a hx4700. It includes detailed advice on:
a) How to avoid starting programs you do not want during a soft reset
b) Moving programs and files to alternate memory (IPAQ File store, SD, CF)
c) Rules of thumb on what cannot be moved and why. Also how to explore moving program files that are not previously listed.
d) Tools that can make your life easier.

There's no problem either creating a sticky or creating a FAQ. In either case the power is in your hands.

If you want to start a thread in the hx4700 forum regarding that and some good information is in it then it can be made into a sticky. Or if you want to create a FAQ just go to the FAQ section and create it.

Either way you are empowered to help empower others here. That is where we could use your help. Sometimes we don't get a chance to cover every single model (well HP has a lot of models). If you have some great knowledge regarding your model and you want to share it there is ways to do it here.

That's what makes this site really good. Everyone can work together to empower others that are seeking information.
