Backup from 2210 on HX4700
Hi,
I'am new to the forum. I've just crashed my ipaq 2210 while attempting a ROM upgrade, however I had backed up the info using the back-up utitily on the unit, onto both a CF Card, and an SD Card. Did not back up on to a PC.
It is possible to restore my contacts database to the HX4700 from either of the cards? I'll still figuring what to do with the 2210.
Thanks for some enlightment on the subject.

You wouldn't be able to back up your contacts list from your 2210 backup to your 4700. You should be able though, to sync your contacts database to your 4700 from your computer.

You may want to download the trail of Sprite Back-up (the programme on your unit is a cut-down version of this software).

I believe (although I have never tried it) that the programme (when loaded on your 4700) will be able to look 'inside' the 2210 and allow you to extract the information you want.

There is a link to the Sprite site in my MyPDA.

However as which abb1 has said - it is much easier to do this on your PC and just sync the unit to Outlook on your PC.

arn5,

Welcome to this superb website and forum.

For your problem, restore backup from 2210 to 4700 is impossible, as all the above guys have pointed out. The reason is that the software in the backup is highly dependent on the hardware, OS edition and data structure. 2210 is using different hardware supporting up to 240x320, wm2003; 4700 is using the latest vga (SE) screen, supporting up to 480x640 resolution and wm2003 second edition. Thus there is no way you can restore it.

You can try, but the backup for 2210 should not have shown up in the restore file list for 4700.

So I totally agree with rob that you should try to sync the info back from the PC.

Good luck.

Unfortunately no. Your backup for a 2210 only works on 2210. The only thing I would suggest is to contact HP to see if can get your 2210 reflashed if hrad resetting your 2210 does not work.
