will work
yes, it is a CF drive, so it will work.... i didnt look at the price but my hitachi 4g micro hdd cost me about $175, it works flawlessly in the 4700...
but.. honestly, if i had it to buy all over agian, I WOULD GET THE HI-SPEED
CF MEMORY CARD INSTEAD OF HDD, FOR ONE REASON, IF YOU RIP A DVD AND CONVERT IT TO PPC-VGA SCREEN FORMAT ( THERE IS A PGM OUT THERE THAT DOES THIS FANTASTICALLY, WITH NO LOSS OF QUALITY) ...
THEN YOU COPY THAT TO THE DRIVE FOR PLAYBACK LATER.. YOUR GOING TO GET YOUR MOVIE, BUT AT THE COST OF 90% OF YOU BATTERY CHARGE,
THE CF WOULD USE ABOUT 30% OF THE BATTERY CHARGE IN COMPARISON,
AND IF YOU GO WITH CF MEM CARD INSTEAD YOU HAVE TO REMEMBER TO GET AN ACUTAL HI-SPEED CF MEMORY CARD,CAPABLE OF SUSTAINING STREAMING VIDEO SPEED AND WITH AT LEAST 3 GIGS OF CAPACITY.
THE PROBLEM IS MICRO DRIVES HEAT UP SERIOUSLY UNDER SUSTAINED USE SUCH AS DVD PLAYBACK... IF YOU ARE JUST GOING TO USE ONE FOR STORAGE OF FILES AND APPS... THEN ITS GREAT, DO IT !! IF ITS FOR MOVIES, GET THE HI END HI SPEED CF CARD.

Not normally - 1gb SD and CF cards are now about the same price (as 1gb SD cards have come down alot recently) above this CF is much cheaper (and even that is assuming you can find a 2gb SD card).
