Why the hell can't I install a program without my host computer? I have been on vacation for a week and have found tons of cool software but it won't let me install anything without my computer back at home. Even when I find a CAB file I can't use it because POS PIE won't let me download it. It just tries to load it as html code.
Which brings me to observation two... why does PIE suck so bad? Microsoft has been making browsers for a decade. I can't even save a picture on a website.
Observation 3... why does Windows SE suck so bad? I would rather run Windows 95. Why don't you coders design a W95 emulator instead of another Nintendo emulator? Of course it won't do me anygood. I can't install anything until I get home.
Observation 4... My Nokia came with a 300 page textbook of a manual. My 4700 came with a fold out brochure. Why is that? And why does my Nokia predictive text work better then this stylus pecking crap? I would rather type on the cell phone then do what I am doing now. And don't dare say get a keyboard. If I wanted to lug all that around I would get a laptop.
Ok that's enough for now. I do love the 4700.

Well for the first issue, there is a painstaking way to get around it, which is what I used when I was away from my computer...Use remote desktop to download the file on your computer, then run the setup for the file and keep saying next, at the end it will say "program will be installed when you next sync PDA", and it will store the cab file under program files/active sync directory. Then you just send the cab file from your desktop to your PDA, through your preferred method..I used usually either ftp or vpn, but you can just email it to yourself even.
In any event, I suggest everyone try out terminal service client (remote desktop) as it can be extremely handy, and convenient.
Next, I agree PIE is a POS. Doesn't even resize images in VGA so unless you go to SE_VGA mode webpages look basically the same as they did in QVGA. Someone needs to make a new browser that fixes this. I don't want fancy tabs or 10 windows open, I just want a browser that works.
Finally, I don't really have any problems with SE, you just have to make sure the programs you install are vga friendly, especially on the today screen...Most of it is trial and error, but if you can get a stable set of programs installed, then you will have a stable OS.
