need to bring my hx4705 to life
hi eveyone. this is the first time i join a forum like this. i look forward to learning what u guys have to say. i release after one week of researching the net for software and stuff that there is WAY TOOOO MUCH INFO OUT THERE, i can only learn so much on my own. i hope we can help eachother out to keep up with the world these days.

i also learned that every ipaq out there has it's own 'personality' with all the different utilities people are installing in them, i have yet to give my hx4705 a 'personality'.

in the mean time please feel free to recommend softwares/utilites and website (preferabily free) that can help me give my ipaq it's own "personality"

thank you and lookin forward to being in touch

Does this mean that Destinator 3 is not compatible with the hx4700 or is there a fix?

I have used Destinator 3 on a ARM-based processor which the hx4700 has. You should be able to use Destinator 3.

thank you so much guys,

and rob1303 thank you for the links, they're great!.

i've noticed that the COPILOT 5 LIVE is ranked as the best map program out there. it's bloody expensive though!. i have myself a gps device (holux gr-230...well waiting for it to be delivered by some guy on ebay), i am trying to get a CHEAP USED (even defective) copy of any of the following softwares so i can receive the competitive upgrade for $99 instead of $250, anyone got ideas about where i can buy such copies?

-TomTom Navigator -Destinator Navigation software
-Navman SmartST for Pocket PC
-Pharos Ostia Software
-TeleType World Navigator
-Deluo Routis Software
-Space Machine PocketMap Navigator

your inputs are greatly appreciated

I don't care for CoPilot's approach - it doesn't have a moving map. The map doesn't move with you - the icon representing you moves to the edge of the screen and then a new screen appears. It's a little unnatural to me. Programs like Mapopolis, PocketMap Navigator and OnCourse Navigator do it better by using moving maps. You might want to check out some of the newer discussions on the GPS Passion site (there's no full review of OnCourse Navigator yet because it's too new).

Haz,

Welcome to this superb website and forum.

I'm sure you will find a lot of friendly and experienced people around here.

With regard to the GPS software, the following link may give you some ideas on your ideal software:
http://www.pocketgps.co.uk/

With cheaper software, I found one from ebay.co.uk (as I'm a resident in the UK):
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...sPageName=WDVW

You might want to search "TomTom navigator 2" on ebay to get the 'abandoned' copy old software.

Since I have been using TomTom Navigator 3 in the UK for almost a year, I'm quite happy with it. Personally I will recommend it if you are in Europe.

Good luck.

oncourse
thank you stinkypaul and others for the advice. i am checking out the different navigation websites. as for the oncourse navigator for pocket pc, here is a review for CGAVULA

http://www.pocketgps.co.uk/oncourse-navigator.php

it seems nice, but i still like the tomtom and copilot live 5. i'll try to find a used TomTom navigator 2 on the net to exchange it for a new copy of copilot live 5 and save me the $150 , otherwise i'll just have to settle for tomtom usa.

happy new year if i don't talk to u earlier
