IPAQ 4700 / LEXAR 1 GB 80x backup problem
I have a IPAQ 4700 with sprite software IPAQ backup version 3.0.2, Build 1739. Installed also is a 1GB 80X Lexar CF Card. I have tried to back up my files using the built in backup utility, but obtain an error each time. The error message I receive is “the backup file is corrupt. If this problem persists please check you storage.” Then progress indicates failed. Here are the notes from the view report function:

Operation: Backup failed
Backup file: \CF
Card\Backup_2004-12-29.pbf

Time elapsed: 57 (s)
Backup filesize: 9707 KB
Average speed : 170 KB/second

Error : CRC do not match
Error : The backup file is corrupt

Can anyone provide advice on how to resolve this issue?

I haven't experienced any problems and have the same card. You may want to try reformatting your CF card(back it up first!)

Failing that contact Sprite, I know they have an extremely indepth support section as well as a forum on their site. Sprite Software

Have you gone to the Sprite website and looked there (iPaq back-up is a OEM version of Sprite back-up).

How full is your CF card when you are trying to write to it? I found that with mine, after I hit 600mb, I get errors if I write anything to it. I use it only for installing media from my PC (mp3,s, AVI's etc.). I just use a blank 256mb CF card for my backups

Have you check your CF card compatibility to your device, if yes, then i suggest you verify your card using pocket machanic to ensure your card is free of any damage. The reason is because i have experience the problem of not able to store any date into my SD card and finally i found out it was the card error, ( very slow and create on off hang problem), so please verify the card before make any conclusion. Thank you..
