PDA to PC WiFi what can I do with it ??
All Experts,
I am a PDA newbie. I have installed a WiFi PDA to PC connection.
The connect is ok. But what can I do with it?
I tried to make an acive sync, but not working.
I tried to tranfer files from and to the pda, but I couldn't.

What do I wrong? And how to make it a snap?
Gerhard

The first is that you can use you PC as an add-hoc gateway to the internet (if you have a LAN/DSL or even a modem access to the internet). As you can use your laptops firewall and anti virus to ensure that anything accessing your PDA is clean. To do this? You can set up add-hoc networks using windowsXP or your wireless card manufacturer's software - also allow the "allow other users to access the internet" option on the wireless adaptor - the icon will change to show that it is a shared port. This is great if you have a LAN connection in a hotel etc and you want wireless access on your PDA!

You can synchronise, print, access shared folders, play movies / music from your laptops hard disk to your PDA (saves having to have a box full of SD/CF cards). You can access your desktop using you PDA (thus have full blown Powerpoint, word etc...) using the terminal client (you have to enable remote desktop on you laptop and needs windowsXP Pro).

In summary - whatever feautures you can have with your laptop network connections are now made available to you PDA.

Hope this helps.
PS: don't forget to enable security....

RaTBaG,
I can connect my notebook via WiFi to a DLink Router/Accesspoint into DSL-internet.
I also can connect via WiFi to this this router with my 4700. It works fine.

I can connect the hx 4700 to my notebook via pc - pc connection.

But how can I use all the nice things you mentioned in your posting?
Do I have to choose work or internet? How can I see the pc-desktop and start a program (full blown word or excel) ? If I start the file explorer I can only see all my files on the 4700 and no one of my notebook.
Is there a certain programm which I have to start to make all the nice things to work?
I wonder why I can not do this myself.

Silber1,

Here's a tutorial that should help you do everything Ratbag described. I found it extremely helpful when I started.

blueradish,
your tip helped a lot! Aximsite tutorial is a clear advice!
Now I can communicate over WiFi directly and over my home-net.
Thanks
Gerhard
