Programs that cause Bluetooth out of memory error
Hi all,
I propose a sticky for all software that causes bluetooth error, so people might save their money and nervs

- Microsoft Voice Command ver 1.5 (awesome application, controling media player in car with voice commands instead of looking and tapping with stylus is AMAZING !!! but to bad) Program causes error installed to Ipaq File Store with over 30MBs of free RAM.

I've had to stop using PIToday and Weatherpanel, if I use either I get the dreaded error.

Just tested voice command installed to main memory, same thing happens.
When I uninstall it, bluetooth works again, without softreset.
Theres got to be "easy" workaround to get it to work. I used IBM embeded voice on 3870 and it pretty much sucked, but this baby is amazing, damn it

I bet if you try Voice Command with no Today plugins it will work.

I can get it to work with 2 today plugins, but anymore than that and I get the message.

I don't think it's that any one (or two) program causes the problem. Think of the space like a bucket. I can make the bucket overflow using Weatherpanel, while someone else may have enough space in their bucket for it. They may make their bucket overflow with PocketPlus.

There are some apps that seem to use more of this space than others (Today plugins in general fall into this category), but I think it's a bit misleading to proclaim that a certain app is the cause of such things

I didn't realize that, TY for explanation.
Disabled some other software in today panel, and now it really works

Is it this way for other devices? This is my first with Bluetooth and it's kind of a pain. I even have the PPC Techs 128mb RAM upgrade and it still happens. I do keep a lot of today screen stuff going but with 256mb and a bad as@ machine like our 4700's it really should not be like this.

I agree, it should not be this way with a machinr like this!

But I also realize that HP didn't guarantee me that the 4705 would work with whatever today plugins I add (And I've bought a few).

I also thought that the 128 mb upgrade would make a difference with the BT error, but now after hearing that it doesn't I may delay my upgrade plans.

FWIW As I mentioned earlier in the thread I definitely have no probs when I limit my plugins.

I think the 128 MB upgrade MAY help, but not always. I have seen posts both ways. For an earlier series of ipaqs, hp released a ROm update that in part addressed this issue. It makes me hopefully that someday they may do the same for this model...but nothing official.

Fragility of 4700

I think that our precious 4700 is rather very sensitive to the Today Applets. Mine has become very stable after I have stopped using TodayPanel (I have also had big problems with other Today applets, eg. BatteryPack Pro by OmegaOne). I now only use two SBSH applets (iLauncher and PocketBreeze) and my 4700 has really become very stable (no spontaneous soft resets or locks anymore). I find that it is amazingly fragile in respect to Today applets. So try to limit them to the ones that are really claimed to be WM2003SE compatible...

Yes, i faced the same problem and i will alway keep my today panel minimum so that it would not affect my main memory.

I ran into the same problem-- Bluetooth drivers wouldn't load on my 4700-- and initially thought it was a side effect of my PPC Techs 128M upgrade. But no, it was Voice Command, which I just bought yesterday.

But after reading this thread I disabled some Today panels and Bluetooth loaded, even with Voice Command.

After some playing around I discovered that I can disable my two third party Today panels, load Bluetooth, then _turn the Today panels back on_, and everything seems to work...until the next time I reset, I imagine...

As much as I like Voice Command 1.5 I had to disable it, especially now that I have the Stowaway Bluetooth Keyboard. My unit has been more stable. It would occasionally freeze when a reminder opened up for meetings, etc. The alarm would go off as well as Voice Command. Also kept my Today screen clean from any plug-ins (except Wisbar Advance).

I just bought a new iPaq 2750 and am having the same problem so it is not just the 4700. I had Battery Pack Pro v1.1.1, Journal Bar 3.14 and Voice Command loaded and got the blasted bluetooth error...after soft reset the same message. I need my bluetooth for printing so I removed Voice Command and Journal Bar and it now works. I miss those apps though!! Anyone know if a fix is in the works???
Thanks
