Wireless control of desktop wmp?
My standalone player (Philips DVP630 - 642 in the States) doesn't play everything divx and I often output my PC to TV via SVHS and a convenient hole in the wall. My question is- does anyone know if I can use my 4700 via bluetooth to control Windows Media Player on the desktop PC. If I need to pause playback, it currently involves going through to the other room. I had heard that some bluetooth mobile phones may have this ability?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi,

You could probably achieve this via Terminal Services Client......taking over your PC with the iPaq....although this will probably be over WiFi rather than Bluetooth.....

Terminal Services will give you total access to your PC via the desktop appearing on your PDA......quite good fun !!

Try netremote - they have a app which I believe will allow you to use BT or WLAN for controlling WMP. I think they are at www.netremote.org

Thanks for the replies guys. I only have bluetooth on PC at the moment but I'll look into both of these options. I'll let you know how I get on.

@kevpuk:

I really like terminal services more than VNCView. VNCView is rather slow and it is difficult to control the mouse (you need a portion of luck to make a double click with the stylus). Nevertheless I use VNCView to controll my mediaplayer and winamp. I would rather choose terminal services for doing this but with this app I have the problem that I'm not able to tell the host pc not to stop displaying the current display on the main screen (TV) - the main pc logs the current user out to transport the display to the pocket pc. So you can't use it to control medial player as the main screen no longer displays what mediaplayer is playing. Same problem with winamp: terminal services tries to use the ppcs speakers to play the music - usually this fails as soon as I'm trying to play some music via terminal services.

Any idea of how controlling the host pc using terminal services without logging out of the host machine?

Regards,
Lars

Hi Dermot81!

I am really interested in what steps I need to use to prevent Terminal services from logging out of the main desktop?! If I start the music before logging in via terminal services I'm able to controll winamp and soundoutput is on the main pc but still I have the problem that the main desktop (TV) just displays the login screen.

Thanks!

Lars
