what is the ignore_my_doc file about?
I find that I have files named ignore_my_doc files on my CF and SD cards. What are these for?

This file will be created automatically if you don't have a "My Documents" folder in the root of your cards. This file tells the OS to look for files in other folders than My Documents. Some apps by default will only look in My Documents.

As long as you don't have a My Documents folder this file will exist. If you remove it the OS will recreate it.

In my experience you will see significant lag on your PPC (at start up and when opening pocket aps that use the "My Documents" folder by default) if you use a large memory card without a My Documents folder. This will become more pronounced as you have more files on the card. Rather than ignoring the file, create a My Documents folder on the card and then delete it.

Just to clarify ... create the My Docs folder, then delete the ignore_my_docs file, not the My docs folder, right?

Haven't got an ignore_my_docs folder or a My Documents folder on either my SD or CF card? I presume they are hidden and can't be seen by default via File Explorer?

You are correct, the ignore_my_docs file is a hidden file by default. You need to use something Resco Explorer with "Show Hidden Files" selected to see it. The file takes up no space at all and can safely be ignored.

You can see the file if you're browsing your sd or cf card from your pc.
