Is there a speed or battery advantage for going with either of these?

Not that you will notice in real use.

I believe the CF card reader is slightly faster than the sd card reader - but are unlikely to notice a difference.

I don't know if this is true for the iPaq, but on my Toshiba, CF seems to use battery up faster.

Any chance that CF card is a microdrive? They actually have moving parts so that may take up battery.

Otherwise Rob is right, I have both and don't really notice a difference. Myabe in my head the CF seems faster so I put my games on there.
