VERY, VERY, VERY big problem
My HX4700 is REALLY making me MAD!!! It will not work at all. Every time I restore, which is a 1gb image to the device, it hard-resets after I do something, such as remove it from the cradle. This all started when I soft-reset it and it wouldn't pass the boot up screen, but it didn't soft-reset continually like it did sometimes. I then took out the battery and put it back in. Then, it worked fine. However, then it hard reset! This is VERY bad!!! I am SO mad at my HX4700 right now because of what it is doing.

Calm down.... :-) I had this exact problem, although mine did it from day one. I am unsure why to have a 1bg image, are you using the active sync back up instead of the back program that comes with the 4700.

When this happened I returned mine and got another.

It is time to remove the battery for an hour or two. Then hard reset it one more time. Then use it with out loading much, just play with PI and sync it.

Next try to load your image, the issue is that the loading of the image may be causing the ipaq to over heat... I had that problem as well. Let it cool.

Finally, return it if the problem does not go away.

George.

lol--that is not possible. The reason the image is so large is because I have a lot of video files that I included but the reason it is not possible is because it took me about 16 hours to get that image. I have a huge amount of programs that I use and then setting everything up just how I like it takes a ton of time. I will try the removing the battery idea and I bet that will fix it. The device worked fine for a few days after the backup and I make backups every week or so. Therefore, I could go back another backup and try that. Thanks a lot for the suggestions and I am not really that mad, just disappointed. Returning is not really an option as I purchased it a few months ago.

Yeah, but the video files are not going anywhere, so they are not really essential in your backup. Video files are just moved onto a storage card so therefore they do not have to be part of the backup. Just do a hard reset, erase everything of your flash cards and Ipaq file store except your videos or mp3's. Then reinstall all your programs and the video files will still be there and you just have to install the movie player to play them. I just did that with mine and it only took me about 45 minutes to have everything up and running, that is ALL my programs reinstalled (and I have a lot of them). I have 1GB of music that I left on my card and I just had to redirect pocketmusic to the card that my music was on to play it.

I understand but the main reason I do everything is because I want all my CF card files and Sprite Backup doesn't allow backing up all files except a certain extension. Anyway, thanks.

If it all on CF card why not just copy them across to your PC into their own directory using a card reader.

Then just make an image of your RAM

if the image is corrupt..as i suspect.. then its not going to matter...it just isnt going to work..ever... and sooner or later.. he will have to give up...and do as we suggested... i think the reason its corrpt is that avail memory for doing the backup image would have ran down to practically nothing about half way thru that process..and it was creating backup from copy and cache in ram... that is a self destructive process as ram isnt contigious..over time..it loses things to defragmentation......
