Is there such a case or am i dreaming?
Is there any kind of case that has a screen protector built in even if it makes using the touch screen difficult?

I am not sure I'm reading your question right. You want a protective case the also covers the screen with something to protect it but will remain transparent so you can still view the screen while in the case even if you can't use the touchscreen at the same time?

If that's the question, I'm not sure what you want exists, but others may know.

However, I recommend a different approach, namely, get yourself a really good screeen protector (from BoxWave or PocketPCTechs or one of the few others who sell high end screen protectors) that applys directly to the screen. This is to protect the screen itself from scratching or getting otherwise marred when using the touchscreen and they are invaluable! Before I join the church of screen protection I scratched the hell out of the screen on my first Dell Axim X5 using only the stylus! Invisible dust fragments trapped between the stylus point the the screen surface are quite enough to make some nasty looking marks on the screen that are impossible to remove without replacing the digitizer unit itself.

After you've got good screen protection, get yourself a great protective case. Personally I favor the hard metal cases. They seem less bulky and cover your entire device in a hearty protective layer of metal that will keep it safe from bumps and small drops very nicely. They also come in handy if you keep your device in a pocket. IMO this is the best approach for protecting your unit.

the only case i'm aware of that is like that is an OtterBox. However, i wouldn't recomment using an OtterBox as an everyday case. they're designed for extreme conditions like using your pda outdoors and as such they are waterproof, crush proof, dust/sand proof, etc...

I recommend proportas crystal case. Its a crystal clear case which gives you access to all the hx4700´s buttons, slots the stylus and the touchpad, so you can work with it without opening the case. When you have to use the touchscreen, the bookstyle cover is able to flip a 180 degrees, so its flapped completely to the back.
It´s scratch-resistant and it survived a crash to the floor from ca. 4 feet without a scratch or a crack on the case or my hx4700. And it just looks great...
