Handwriting Recognition
Hi All,

As a near-future hx4705 owner, still checking websites for reviews, specs etc. And in one of those, it claims that the HX4705 does not recognize handwriting, which makes no sense to me. 'Cause as far as I know, for quite sometime, pdas in general, even the early models are capable of doing that. Maybe it is related to software in this case.

So, will it recognize my handwriting as well?

Thanx

On a Pocket PC, handwriting recognition is provided by the Transcriber application. It allows handwriting to text conversion. It is part of a set of input otions offered in all PPC's (keyboard, character recognition, transcriber, and block recognition).

HTH!

There is an application, called Calligrapher, which works perfectly on the 4700, even in true VGA mode (where many fail) and is excellent for handwriting recognition, totally superior to the native application provided by the operating system. Get it, use it, and be happy.

It's funny, I tried working with the transcriber many times and even after teaching it and messing with all the options, it still only does a mediocre job of recognizing my perfect print. What's even funnier is when I write in cursive, it works awesome. It works so well where I can't even read what I wrote but it does and I don't even write cursive ever.

I've used recognition programs in the past and I'm glad to hear that Calligrapher is so good. Currently I'm using Fitaly and thanks to Fitalytetris have gotten faily fast (24WPM) with it.

Calligrapher is good. May I also suggest a quality screen protector like boxwave. The stylus glides effortlessly across the screen making handwriting and recognition easier and more accurate.
