Printing
New to the forum been lurking around for a couple of weeks.

I've been having problems printing with my 4705. I made sure I have all the updates from hP for printing. I have the Deskjet 450ci, my 4705 discovers the printer just fine through the IR port and you can see the light on the printer acknowledgeing it, but it keeps getting an error just saying there was a problem printing.

Any help is appreciated.

Try other drivers for the same printer, even if it isn't the one the list says you should use...

And some printers just don't work with it at all.... we have a laserjet 4550 that just refuses to work.

I experienced similar problems - I could not get HP LJ2100s to print until I soft-reset the device. Now all is well.

I have had difficulty printing to a variety of printers including my hp450wbt. I also print WiFi and wired to printers installed on my network. To minimize printing failures I always make sure I "slide" memory allocation to apx 6.8 MB of storage. This along with stopping unnecessary programs and an occasional soft reset makes printing a breeze. BTW a BT card for the 450 is much easier than lining up the ir port, and if you have a WiFi router and your pc has a printer you can share the printer and print to it via WiFi.

I figured out my problem. I did not realize how under powered the IR port is on these. I have to hold the Ipaq within an inch or less, looks like I'll be getting the bluetooth adapter. I want to use this for printing out receipts at my customers homes/offices.

Wise choice. When I purchased my 450 I went with the wbt instead of the ci just to have the BT capability. IR has always been a pain in the wrist.
