When I try to open HP image zone on my hx4705, this message pops up:

HPimgview is not a valid Pocket pc application.

I know that this is caused by conflicting software because after backing up and then performing a hard reset, I am again able to access the program. However, I do not know which program is conflicting with this because I do not use hp image zone too often. I also do not have the time to install all my programs and such.

Any ideas on what may be causing this?

I think you will have to hard reset again and re-load your apps one by one testing Image zone after each until you find the culprit.
