GPS help
I am helping out my local fire department with some computer issues and one of the members has just received a iPAQ 4700. I have Delorme Streets software 2004 plus, and they also have some Radio Shack Digitravelers. We had these working with an older palm and it came with a cable that hooks into the 4700, but I can't gain access. Is there a certain Com port setting? Do I need to buy something to do it a different way?
The GPS has an RJ11 or similar connection you plug into, and I have either a serial, usb, or direct plug in that seems fit the 4700. Any ideas would be helpfull. Thanks

You may want to look at Pharos & Ostia 7.0. Their GPS-360 with CF adapter works flawlessly with the 4700. It creates routes, re-routes when off course and does and good job.
Regards,
Chris

Hi Firefighter,
I just recently bought a BT GPS reciever (Garmin GPS10) for my Hx4700 and started using it straight away. I downloaded a program called 'GPS Tuner 4' from PocketGear.com. After setting up a bt connection to the gps, I went into the GPS Tuner 4 program. It had a function where it looks through all the com ports you have and detects GPS. I was using GPS in 5 minutes. I thought this might be helpful to you even though you got a serial connector to your GPS, you can try testing your com ports. In your case, you also might have to install the drivers for your serial gps before it can be detected. (in my case, no drivers needed. Bluetooth took care of everything)
