HP iPAQ hx4700 Audio fix
Has anyone noticed that HP have removed the fix for the Audio output?

Does it have anything to do with my iPAQ doing a total fit and doing an unsceduled HARD reset?

Possibly its just a coincidence.

Anyway - i needed to do a clean install of my PDA as it was getting cluttered....

Oh well.

I searched on the name of patch file on the HP website and got two hits -

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport..._MH050113_CW01

http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/fi...oad/22515.html

Interesting that the support document now points to a dead link and the download site now says that this version of the software is no longer available

Sounds like the Secretary is disavowing all knowledge of our mission.

Anyone know if there are any issues with uninstalling this patch? I'm suddenly not too comfortable, especially since I had a mysterious lock up and hard reset last week after installing this sucker.

It's the thing that wouldn't die!!!!!!

I can't remove it because the OS is using it. Reboot didn't help. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks 4 posting this RaTBaG.
I did manage to download the patch some days ago but didnt have the time to install it.
I noticed the missing link and download location by accident and came here to ask first.
So better wait and see what happens.

Cheers

No ideas. But over at Brighthand, a poster mentioned that neither a hard reset or a restore from a pre-install back up helped.

Great! Now we need a patch for the patch!

All right. I managed to remove it. I changed the file name to "Wavedev.old" from "Wavedev.dll". This allowed the OS to grab the original file from ROM. Then I ran the Remove Program applet against the audio patch, deleted the "old" file, and I'm back to where I started.

Sheesh.

Just seen this on the Brighthand Forum posted by TransFXB:

"Normal. Patch was buggy for language different than English. Won't install on devices without English ROM."

Not sure if it is correct but it seems to bear out my experience of the patch. I had had no problems with my 4700 for quite a while now - has been rock solid - but after removing the updated drive I seem to to be getting spontaneous soft resets.
This may have been a result of installing Metro, I have un-installed it and the device seems to have settled down but I am still not sure whether it was removing the patch or installing Metro that caused the problems.

Hi, I'm new to this forum, got my HX4700 today.

I emailed HP a little while agao to ask about 'Media Playe 10' updates.

The reply from the is posted below.

Maybe it is possible that the audio patch was withdrawn as according to them a rom update is just about to be released.

Thought I'd share it with you guys.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear HP Customer,

Thank you for contacting HP eServices.
