using Skype on PDA
I want to use Skype, but i'm not too sure what kind of headset i can use for it to work properly.

I asked one of my friends, and he said that technically any 2.5mm headset should work, but wasn't too sure if i could talk and listen with the headset properly.

So, my question is, can i use any 2.5mm headset and with perfect or near perfect results?

Please be specific with your reply!

I've used it with £6 ear buds and it worked great. any type of earphones will work as you use the ipaqs built in mic

I'm sure you can use BT headset.

However, the noise generated from the Skype was unbearable on my 4700 and 4150, when I tried this in both of the device at home with my wife, through my broadband router.

Even my friend has experienced the same sound problem on pocket pc, but on PC the sound quality is definitely more than acceptable.

I will hold on a while before actually running skype on my pocket pc.

Good luck to you guys.

I like Skype a lot, and its is slowly replacing IM as my preferred chatting program.
Depending on what PDA you're using, you might not need a headset.
My wife used her 5450 like a phone since the mic was at the bottom and the speaker at the top.
I use my 2750 the same way even though both are at the bottom (I just turn the volume up).
You could just get a pair of headphones, and hold the PDA like you would while making a voice memo.

Skype
Hi,

I have used Skype with a bt headset with the Hx4700. I used the Bluetake Wireless Headset and it worked great. Very clear, unless the access points are crap!

Can you use a mobile phone BT headset (handsfree kit) with an iPAQ?

I use a cheap set of Koss sb-10 stereophones...the network delay is killer (sounds like you are talking with a field reporter in baghdad ) but in a bind they do the trick...I have a 4700, btw.

Skype
I've been using Skype for a few weeks now, and use it without a headset. I tried to by a headset, made for a cell phone, but the connector was the wrong size.
It works fine without a headset though.

The problem, without a headset or earphones, isn't at your end, it's at the other party's end. They get an annoying echo as their voice is feed back to them through the mike. Some PDAs may work better than others, but ask the person you're talking to if they are hearing an echo.

or turn down the speaker volume to stop the feedback and use it like a phone, works well on the hx4700 because the speaker is at the top with the mic at the bottom

or set up Skype on your desktop PC & your PDA, then get your wife/girfriend/boyfriend/mum/dad/mate.....etc to log on to the PC and you phone them on your PDA, then you can have play with all the settings till your hearts content

There's a setting in the PPC Skype applicaion - go to Tools/Options: Echo canellation ON - this will reduce the echo problem dramatically, especially if there is physical separation between your mic and your speaker.

So can anyone tell me the options for using Skype on my 4155? I wonder if I can use my HP Bluetooth wireless + speaking into the mic. I understand that I have to turn on the echo canellation in PPC Skype. Anyone have experience with this ipaq model? Thanks.
