Bluetooth Internet Access with XP (have used the aximsite guide)
Ok, so, i have already checked out the guide at the axim site, and i can connect to the internet via bluetooth. My problem is this: Everytime I connect using the 4700 i get a prompt on my desktop, which i can ignore to deny access, or click to accept, and then go onto click to always allow access. Now. This works fine for the rest of the time that the pc is on, i can connect without problems as and when i choose, without having to allow access on my desktop. However when i restart my pc, and want to use bluetooth internet access on it again, i have to come over and click to allow access .

Is there anyway to permanently allow my 4700 to access the internet on my desktop via bluetooth, i.e. after a restart without having to accept it on the desktop?

TIA,

Robert

P.S. Both devices are paired with each other

have you tried to switch the security settings off in the BT configuration window?

mrjenkins, I just tried your suggestion, however I am unable to make the secure connection not required as you can with the other services. When you got to the properties of the Network Access service, the secure connection box is ticked and greyed out :-(

Any other suggestions anyone?

It looks like something is overriding the security settings of BT software. Mine is unchecked and grayed out.

I have checked out my registry settings. SecurityId is 1. Setting it from the registry doesnt change anything. Here is some info on security settings:

http://www.lancs.ac.uk/postgrad/nguy...r2/wpansec.htm

I would uninstall and delete widcomm registry by hand (if it is not removed automatically) and reboot and than re-install the BT software to see if anything changes. Good luck.

Hmmm, this could be a fault of having to fiddle with the bluetooth settings in registry to get the HID to work with it....

I will investigate at a later time, since i cant start messing with my computer at the moment due to exams....I will have time in 10 weeks or so tho, so i shall get on the case again then!

Yes i know what you mean. If you need additonal info on how to upgrade your BT software http://www.jonsguides.com/bluetooth/ is nice place to look at. He is no longer offering downloads since Widcomm/Broadcom presurring the guy for removing the software. Good luck with the exams

In bluetooth pairing on your PC, did you set your ipaq as an authorised device (no confirmation necessary) ?
