I'm not sure what you mean by the pc board being "a little 1/2 inch wide strip". I checked out the FCC pictures, it looks the same as every other pocket pc on the market. Very similar to the mainboard on a normal computer (without the heatsinks of course). The mainboard takes up the full size of the unit. The daughter board you noticed was probably the wifi card. The CPU, RAM and video processor are on the front side of the board (the side facing the display). The backside has nothing but power control. All of the pictures are easily available already on fcc.gov. Chips on the gov site are identified as well. I'm not sure what you were expecting to see inside, but it looks OK to me, definately not ugly. And BTW, all consumer electronics are anti-climatic inside IMHO.
