HP Mission Control - We have a Problem!
On the subject of the iPAQ HX4700 Rom Update ::YAAWWNNN::

I've been pestering again...hehe

I recently received an email from HP Mission Control (honestly that's what they call themselves).

Not sure how high up in the company she is, but here is the full details and response.

Gutierrez, Monica (Mission Control) [mgutierrez@hp.com]

Bill:

Hewlett Packard is aware of this issue and we are working in the development of one, however we are unable to share a release date.

Regards
Monica
Mission Control

I thought that you guys might find the mail address useful.

just been accross to aximsite.com to have a look at the A03 rom for the x50V, either that was one sick puppy or this ROM has just given it a shot of Nitro???

1. Improved the compatibility with certain CF cards
2. Improved the power management within the CompactFlash driver
3. Improved the WLAN driver for the unrecognized card issue
4. Improved Bluetooth memory management
5. Enhanced the processor speed scheme (Auto) for better balance between performance and battery life
6. Improved the compatibility of Bluetooth FTP
7. Make the wireless button driver more robust
8. Improved the compatibility of Switcher Bar application
9. Enhanced the compatibility of Data Backup utility
10. Enhanced the WEP key security
11. Updated the Funk Odyssey client
12. Improved the frequency change mechanism of 2700G
13. Fixed issue when pausing live streaming video
14. Updated 2700G display driver

Wish I bought the x50v now

At least Dell are providing their loyal clients with regular improvements I suppose, while we (including myself in that one) are all just sitting here like Muppets saying "I don't care, mine works for me, and anyway I have a top spec iPAQ" snob, snob. Maybe bhands has a point to his incessant bleeting about the ROM update from HP.

Maybe we should joint forces with Jedi Master Bhands and fight the evil lord Sith that is HP

Hear me friends and fellow warriors; together we can slay those that stand to oppress our desire for what is truly ours. Fight together and the ROM Update will truly be ours once again. It won’t be easy; I'm not saying that there won't be casualties along the way, I can't promise that good and innocent men will not lose their lives... but what I can promise you my friends is that we the warriors of Romulas Updatias, standing shoulder to shoulder, defiant in the face of our sworn enemy and united in our cause, can win this fight and win it well. Future generations of ROM warriors will reflect back on our victory and rest easy in the knowledge that the impossible can become possible, mountains can be moved and through sheer grit and determination we can achieve greatness against all the odds. Join me in the battle against the dark ones… …Join me!!!

I’m sure that if we all send the following email to Monica at HP, she may be able to help our cause. (or pass the mails onto someone who can?)

Gutierrez, Monica (Mission Control) [mgutierrez@hp.com]
------------------------------------------------

Greetings,

I <your name>, a ROM warrior in the STAR-League ROM Update Command Squadron of planet Romulas Updatias, hereby pledge my allegiance to the just and rightful cause of updating the ROM version of the hx4700 to a stable and functional version.

I understand that you represent our enemy and present yourself as an obstacle in our path towards our inevitable and glorious victory.

Our primary objective is to ensure that hx4700 ROM will be issued with a suitable update and I come to see that it our mission is completed.

Our mission is a peaceful one, but do not underestimate the power of the STAR-League.

Please supply a date for the hx4700 ROM Update and we will continue to allow you to trade in our Galaxy.

Ps. I had to write this message on my Dell x50v as my hx4700 is currently being rebuilt again, apparently a ROM update has been set for May (tentatively).

Regards,

<your name>

STAR-League ROM Update Dept. – Room 3a (next to water cooler)

Well, WM9, I guess! I do take the point, but I actually use WM9! I might be the only one, but I pick a playlist, hit play, and do some other stuff and it plays in the background. Fine for me.

I do agree that it'd be cool to get some updates - of course it would. But if HP released a really buggy device and had to release hundreds of bug fixes, sometimes it seems as though people would be happier because they felt like they were getting something. If you know what I mean

Going off topic now, (someone slap me), but coming from the Palm world recently, it seems that the PalmOs community is hell bent on slagging itself off to the extent of causing it's own destruction. Bit of an exaggeration, but you get the point.

I'll get me coat.

Bloney.

Hi Bloney, I'll take the risk and agree with you (I am reaching for my vinyl sheet as well). Why would anyone want WMP10 anyway when there are several superior products available? Waiting for the poison arrows...

I certainly agree as well. However, I certainly do want the ROM update to fix bugs that have been issues since day one. I could care less about WMP10 (my phone has it if I really want it), but I do care about the things that need to be fixed, such as wireless networking, and various other annoyances.

However, I do also agree that it has been entirely too long for updates. I'm not yet willing to go over to Dell, as I prefer the form of the hx4700, but I as well am getting close.

Maybe HP is in cahoots with Dell. HP will showboat an very expensive handheld with simular features as Dell. But then provide crappy almost rude support to piss us all off, so we will go out and buy a Dell just to get back at HP, thus increasing Dell sells in that HP recieves a kickback from Dell. Plus HP unload there devices at about twice the price without having to provide any support.

Oh, there good
