Network Switching/Location Manager
I am usually on 2 wireless netorks, mine, or someone else's. DUH! What other kind is there? Anyways, here are some of the details...

Mine: Used for wireless syncing and web browsing and such.

Others (such as at work and at friends house): Same, but used to VPN to home network. The VPN is for files transfer and retrieving file needed to perform certain tasks while away, to do maintanance to other servers at home, etc, as well as the ocassional sync.

I have a Win2K Server serving my VPN conenction (yes it works fine, and has been for a while now.)

What I have seen is that all settings at home (to sync wirelessly) must be set to the "work" network. This donsn't let you have a VPN connection as well , at least not that I have been able to figure out.

So my question is this...

Is there a way to do all the above without having to use the VPN connection while at home on my wireless network, or to use some "Location Manager" type network switching tool (if any) to easily switch between the 2 setups.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Whooaahh. Welcome to the forum. I am not aware of any network switching tool but that doesn't mean there isn't one out there. I haven't set up a VPN on my PPC yet so I can't help troubleshoot either. Hopefully some others here can be of more help.

Hi,

I'm looking for something similar. I don't have a VPN set up, but I change wireless Lans frequently, so an app that stores them up and can switch at the touch of a button would be brilliant! I'm fed up of changin IP and DNS addresses!

Hopefully someone will know of a relevant app!

Regards

Hi FastBlueLion. Actually PocketWinc may be able to help you with that. It has a 30day free download. I downloaded it some time ago but never got around to using it before my trial period expired.

I use pocketwinc and It's always one of the first apps I load on a new pocket pc. It's handy for switching between your corporate and home wireless settings without having to play about with the individual setup of each profile. Try the demo and I'm sure you'll agree that the full product is worth the small asking price.

I use pocketwinc for a longer time to see what hotspots are around.
But I didn't realize to use it as a network-changer.

Does it switch the hx 4700 to different networks?

It's a neat application. You can store personalised profiles for individual Wi-Fi locations, making it really easy to switch without fiddling with your settings.

pocketWinc cannot handle WAP, only WEP. It's quite pity these days...

Maybe I should have been more clear on what I was looking for.

pocketWiNc has none of the features I was looking for. The setting I wish to be able to change are the following:

Start, Settings, Conenctions, Connections, Advanced, Select Networks, Both options (Drop down menus)

and

Start, Settings, Connection, Network Cards, Network Adapters, "My network card connects to:" option.

pocketWiNc is more or less along the lines of WiFiFoFum, which I have.

Thanks.
