Can u switch from Outlook as default?
Hi all,

Was just wondering if anyone knows a quick way to switch email profiles? Activesync keeps insisting that I use Outlook, and I don't want to. Fine
with the one I have.....So the silly thing won't even talk to the calender because of this.

thanks,

SMB

Activesync will ONLY work with Outlook.

What are you using? we may be able to offer advice to a third party programme that may work.

BTW - welcome to the site

Depending on what you're using, Intellisync may be of use to you.

Hi everyone,

I am new to this site and to my 4705. I too would like to use something other than Outlook. In my case it is Yahoo.

This site is a great find! Will definately shorten my learning curve.

Thanks,

Scott Schiffman

Hi schifty. If Yahoo supports POP3 (I believe it does), you can set up a POP3 email client in Messaging on your PDA. If you want to sync calendar and contact information however, I don't think you will be able to do that with Yahoo.

Hi Super M,

Thanks for the info---I believe it does (POP-3) and will try it out. Too bad about the calendar though.

Yep, as far as Activesync you have to use Outlook for Calendar and Contacts. There are some links in the guide "What Can I Do With My iPAQ" for syncing with Outlook Express. For the most part if you want to get away from Outlook then you will have to look into Intellisync.

Thanks for the welcome!

I do use Outlook as a calender program, but I use Netscape
as my mail program (pop3 and never gets attacked!)

I would like to figure out a way that the iPAQ will sync with
outlook and even the contact list, but leave my email alone!

I keep getting the message that the PIM has failed when I try
to sync only the calender and contacts.

You should be able to do this with no problem.

Can you try and create a new partnership.

Open AS when not connected and go to File>Delete Partnership (save the files when it asks).

Soft reset your ipaq.

Put it in the cradle. When asked which options you want to sync - DO NOT choose Inbox.

Does this work?
