Spb pocketplus backlight on 4700
Hi there!

I'm new here, i recently got a brand new 4700 and i can't stop telling people how great it is. Of course i don't have to tell you guys

I'm trying to decide what programs i want installed, and i decided that for progam launching i use spb pocketplus. It also comes with some nice extras, like a reset/power button. However one thing that doesn't work is the backlight slider. Are more people having this problem, or is it just me? Now i have to revert to that ugly build in backlight slider.

Hi, rjbouw

I use SPB pocket plus with no problems at all - the backlight slider is doing what it's meant to be doing.

Have you tried uninstalling then re-installing the program? If that doesn't work try removing it form the PC side of activesync as well (that is, uninstall the windows-based program installed) and re-install afresh from windows?

There's no reason for the program to just not work on a brand new unit. Just a suggestion.

Anyone hope that helps,

wackyd

Doesn't the backlight slider that comes on the 4700 work?

Hi rjbouw. Welcome to the forum. I don't use SPB so I can't answer your question directly. BUt, your device came with a program called Today Panel Lite that has a backlight slider as well. You might try deactiviating SPB, then trying out the slider on Today Panel Lite. IF the one on Today Panel Lite works ok, it might be an issue with SPB, but many 4700 users use SPB and I don't recall hearing any issues with the slider bar. For other programs that might be of interest, feel free to check out my View My PDA section. Enjoy the site.

Hey rjbouw, welcome to the site. I do use SPB and the slider was fine. I say was because I no longer use it to control the backlight. I found that it was something I did so rarely that it wasn't worth the Today Screen space.

Does the slider work when you're not connected to external power? Some of the sliders do not affect the brightness when using external power, only when on battery power.

The slider works best when I turn off automatic brightness control, but also works with it turned on. I notice I need to pick the slider carefully or the pop up menu comes up, this is with Spb.

Thanks all for the replies,

The problem seems to be allways there, whether its connected to AC or not. Sometimes it doesn't work at all, the other time it kind of 'reverts' back to to the zero position, and i have to move it two or three times for it to respond.
The slider from the today panel works great, but its kind of ugly.
Anyway i think i'll go with the suggested re-install, see what happens.

i think i'll reinstall too! it doesn't work on mine and never has. even after a few hard resets and reformats of my drive. it was an issue with an earlier version but i wasn't aware they fixed it.
