Unusual uses of your PDA
I just ordered a IPAQ HX4705. This is going to be my first PDA. What are some unusual things you use your PDA for? (Usual items are items like: reminders, phone book, e-mail checking, games, videos, music etc.)

What I have read about so for:
-You can use your PDA with a GPS
-You can use it as a remote control for your TV

What else do you use your PDA for?

No, there is a fantastic bit of software called Tomeraider (not to be confused with Tome Raider which is something completly different. The previous version stripped out the graphics but the new one keeps the maps and flags etc.. The CIA wold factbook 2004 weighs in at about 7mb! And Boy is it fast. No lags or anything if you are browsing, and a few seconds if you want to do text searching on the thing

You can get all of the following (Free) in Tomeraider format and loads of other stuff - no DRM issues at all. The only thing you have to pay for is the viewer for £ 15.00 (or whatever that is in US dollars). and i might even have a 5% discount code for it somewhere

IMDB Movie Database
Wordnet Dictionary
The Wikipedia Encyclopaedia
Dictionary of Computing
CIA World Factbook 2004
The WEB Bible
IMDB People database
Roget's Thesaurus
Webster's Encyclopaedia
CIA World Factbook 2004

and more stuff is available from www.memoware.com

Sorry if this is sounding like an advert but it is a nice bit of software

Ok I'm no expert on this as I only found it a few hours ago, But I've thrown a few bits of software at it (Filez, Cspot Run, Palmreader, Tomeraider(palm version)) at it and its worked perfectly so feel free to kick it around and let us know how you get on with it.

It Doesn't support PC conduits (Syncing with a PC), or applications that talk to the palm software direct (like MP3 players). I have another 13.5 days of the trial left to see if I'm going to buy it

You can get the demo version from http://www.styletap.com/products.html

I installed the demo version, it executed the program I wanted, so I went ahead and paid for it. Great little application.

I think this program is a must for anyone transfering from a Palm device to a PPC.
