Using SD Cards ?
Hi all,
I am an absolute beginner with PDA`s and have just bought a 4700...
My question is how do I run programmes from an sd card ?.......how do I copy the programme from the main Pc onto the card and then from the card to the 4700 and then run the programme ?...
Please do remember I am a complete beginner so really basic instructions would be appreciated.......
Thanks for the help and the patience..

Clive

Sheesh, its alright for some... coming into the scene with the best device out there!

To install an application to SD you need to install it via Active Sync. When it asks you "Do you want to install this to the main storage? (Yes/ No)" - hit "No" then it will give you a dropdown combo box of available locations. Select "SD Card" then hit okay... and it should be installed! You cant (usually) just move the application because the registry won't reflect the changes.

Traveller1, congratulations on the purchase (good choice! ).

Just think of your SD card as a removable hard drive - when it's in your PPC you can browse it, run programs from it, save files to it etc but you can also put it in to a card reader (e.g. one connected to your PC) and copy across files, pictures etc.

Any other questions, queries etc just ask and we will come running!

That was my first question when I got a PPC. I hope you got all through. What size SD card are you using? I am just curious. :P

Nice size. Yep you can basically install anything on your card. Except for apps that dont allow you too. Such apps like SPB PocketPlus must be installed to RAM. I have MS Pocket Streets and I have all the maps on my SD Card.
