EX-PALM-USERS SyleTap comparisons (pics) Palm apps running on Palm and PPC machines
Most of my needs are fulfilled by my 4705, but 3 of my main apps (used for business) are palm and have no PPC equals.

Also, if you're like me and you have a rather large investment in palm apps (I used a palm for nearly five years) and have some favorites that you need or miss than this app might just be for you.

I'm a personal trainer so many of my apps are unique, have no condiuts or desktop counterparts anyway (I backup to cf/ms/sd and back them up to pc anyway) and a lot you may not have for a use for them, but I still thought provide an example of what can be done with this StyleTap

I've posted more elsewhere on this subject so I won't go in depth on the subject other than letting you know that the developer has been very responsive, has answered all my questions and that this app is just what I needed!

From the looks of it some of the apps render much better on a VGA device which is why I posted here.

I wonder what kind of device those that have had problems are using as mentioned in other forums.

I've had some apps not work very well, but most do.

I just thought I'd "stir the pot" and bring it up again here at IH even though it was mentioned here when it first debuted.

EDIT: PS. And I was getting bored!

Do I see a little Z-launcher there?

BTW, most of my Palm apps seem to hacks to make the Sony's more "owner friendly". Huh.... Sure were nice pieces of hardware though.

I do like running Archicalc.

Thanks for the pics!!

I pretty much gave away all my Palm apps didn't think I'd get to use them again. Luckily some of my favs were ported like Space Trader and I like Textmaker and Planmaker and Pocket Slides better than Dataviz. I had a few HVAC, Electrical and Structural calculators that I miss but not sure how much I would use them anymore.

I've actually tried ZL with styletap and it 66% (no distortion) and it looks great with many functions (including backgrounds working), but it's just a little too small for me.

And at 100% (full screen) it looked decent, but the backgound was slightly distorted.

And believe or not you could even use some of Zlauncher's file managment features!

And YES, I really do miss Sony's innovation!

I agree as I've found replacements for many apps and a few like Textmaker (instead of wordsmith or dics2go) that I can sync as well.

I didn't gave way any as I've still needed my palm... until now that is!

I've been an ex-Palm user for five years this summer.

Welcome to the club.

Has anyone heard whether SnapperMail works using the emulation program? It's hands-down the best mail client I've ever used on a handheld, although I need to read what WM5 has done to improve the included client.

Thanks.

I still own many older Palm units and also have a Tungsten E.

While Pocket PC's are superior in many ways to the Palm platform I still like
them.

I find this program interesting but emulation will never compare to the real thing.

Palms have thier place (IMO) in the PDA community and it will be so for some
time to come.

I also have a large collection of Palm software, some of which are now hard to
find.

I am not a fanboy of any platform or anything in general for that matter.

Oh and I've been using Microsoft PDA's since the old clamshell units.

I agree to a point, but having these 3 apps palm apps running on my PPC and allowing me to be able to carry just the ppc for work is a godsend!

In a few cases this program as I mentioned can diplay the graphics of some of the palm apps even better than on my palm.

For me it's whatever works best- regardess of platforms.

I'm with you 100% on that.

I still love my hx4700 and even my Casio E100.
But then again there are times when my Sony Clie NR70v rules the roost.

You've have an open mind!

Thanks adnilsen, as I guess we all like to believe we have an open mind.

Otherwise, not only are you openminded, but appears you've also got good taste.

I loved my NR70 when I had one as well.

Sony definitely set the standard for me

[quote=stronggeek]Thanks adnilsen, as I guess we all like to believe we have an open mind. [quote].

I know my mind is far from being truly open in many ways but learning is a
life long never ending process.

My reply is very off topic so I think no one should reply to it.

It wastes the Forum's time as well as it's members.
