battery replacement for 4700 and 4800 (??)

Does anyone know anything about this battery I am seeing on eBay. It's not the Mugen battery, which is a good product I belive, but it is vastly less expensive.

Also, what is this HX4800 business - do they know something we don't, or is it just proof that the battery is some sort of scam?

No idea - but the Hx4800 definitely doesn't exist (at least yet).

I bought an aftermarket battery for my new camera, works like a charm at a fraction of the cost.

Notice on the picture of the actual battery it is specified HX47XX, don't know where this 4800 came from. Could it simply be a different model number for the 4700 in a different part of the world?

many sellers on ebay stick as many model names as possible so when you search for a product you will most likely get theirs at the top.
so it could be that this seller is using this same strategy. the battery and battery case itself doesn't mention any hx4800 ... its only the seller who write such a thing.
