Anyone syncing to/from Groupwise?
I was wondering if some of you are using Groupwise at work and more importantly how.....

I have used numerous combinations but nothing really works stable;
Groupwise PDA Connect on GW6.5.4
Activesync calendar syncing through Outlook 2003 (using MAPI)
Intellisync 4.1 on GW6.5.4
Intelisnc 5.3.2 on GW6.5.4

No matter which combination, something always doesn't seem to work. Calendar is probably the only thing that works in all combinations, but mail, contact list or tasks are hopeless. So if anyone has a smart idea let's hear it!

No smart idea here. I always have problems with PDA Connect. Only thing which works for me is the eMail sync. But Contacts and especially Calender is always a problem. GotoRecord Errors and so on. When PDA Connect was in Beta I sent them a bugreport, but nothing happend
Activesync I used only once, but after loosing all calender entries i skipped this.
Never tried Intellisync.

Intellisync works fine as long as you only want Calendar, GWPDA is slightly less stable and has one big plus, it's free. Intellisync will drain you something like 70 euro's.

If you don't pay attention any combination could either double your appointments or remove all of them.

No solution, lots of problems, Intellisync and PDA Connect
I have an iPAQ Pocket PC, and I use ActiveSync to connect to Groupwise 6.5.3. ActiveSync doesn't sync with GroupWise, so our "standard" protocol here is to use Intellisync for email, contacts, and calendar syncing. When Intellisync works, it is great. When it stumbles, it is a frustrating pain in the neck. I finally quit syncing email and that solved many problems. However, I still occasionally have calendar problems. Usually I am forced to delete entries until I find the one causing the problem. At various times I have thought that the problem was connected to entries with a subject line of too many characters, or an entry with something weird in the "notes" field. I cannot reproduce these problems at will, so have no concrete solution.

I have just installed Novell's GroupWise PDA Connect. It doesn't seem to like my entries either. I am only having problems with my calendar. The error states "Unknown Error" and then "Synchronization aborted due to errors." Real helpful!

Good luck; if you have any success please post here. I will also.

There is another solution called GWanyWhere, basically it's an access infrastructure similar to RIM's blackberry, so as long as you have any viable IP link (ethernet/wifi/gprs etc) to the sync server it will always be up to date, I believe it would work great but it is quite expensive. I hope to have a test environment of it soon, but my boss has to agree with it........ and for 100+ pda's in our organisation it will be a lot of money.

Hi,

We are a Novell school. My Deputy Principal uses his PDA to sync with his laptop and it updates his GroupWise calendar. He had Outlook 2000 installed in Corporate Mail configuration on his laptop by myself a few years ago. When he bought his PDA he installed Outlook 2002 that came with it and his PDA (Mobile 2003) still updated GW calendar through ActiveSync.

I cannot get my IPAQ to Sync with my GW calendar with Outlook 2003 installed. Even after I uninstall GW, Outlook and Active Sync and reinstall in various combinations I have no luck.

Yes, located the file on Novell's site and installed it after I installed the GW SP4 files for the client. It has sync'ed my calendar across. Does it always do a full sync when the IPAQ is placed in the cradle? It has done that twice now and it takes some time while it populates the calendar in GW.

Anyway, after installing GWPDA and ActiveSync, I could not log onto the system. Kept getting a blue STOP screen in Windows when I entered my username and tabbed down to enter password. We are using contextless login. I uninstalled GWPDA and problem still existed. Then uninstalled Active Sync and problem still existed. Had to update client to 4.91 (was using 4.90 SP1a) However, despite all this I now see that whatever is plced in GW 6.5 now appears in Outlook 2003. Will install ActiveSync again and sync to Outlook 2003 to see if GW 6.5 then gets updated that way from outlook.
