Msreader Problem With Rom Update?
I just finished installing the ROM update and have encountered a problem installing/activating MSReader (version 2.4) and hopefully someone may have some insight regarding this problem.

After installing the software and subsequently trying to activate it I keep encountering an error message on Microsoft's website: "You have an older version of Pocket PC which does not support Activation. Activation requires Pocket PC 2002 or later.". I've performed a soft reset, hard reset, re-installed the software and it simply will not activate Further, when I try to click on the Reader icon from the PPC Start Menu nothing happens. I have to actually go into the "Programs" folder and launch it from there... loads and runs without any problems but as I said.. won't activate. Anyone have a thought on this?? I love my e-books!

After installing the update and installing MS Reader I had the same problem. I first installed it to the file store and it wouldn't activate. Then I removed it (using add/remove programs) and reinstalled it to main memory. It activated fine. I don't know if it was the reinstall or the fact that I put it into main memory that did the trick, but it did.

THANKS!!! I just reinstalled to main memory and it activated without a problem! I've opened up a few e-books and everything appears to be fine now. I honestly didn't even think of trying an install to main memory (gong!) Again.. MANY, MANY thanks!

For your information you can in fact install MS Reader in the file store or on a storage card and activate it if you follow these instructions.
Hope this helps.

I just restored the Reader activation files from my backup and didn't bother with re-activation.

The files are as follows:
LitPath.lpt - this file is in the device root
Microsoft Activation.unload - in the Windows directory
secrep.dat - in the Windows directory
secrep.dll - in the Windows directory
secrep.xml - in the Windows directory
secrepid.dat - in the Windows directory

Credit goes to the original author, but I read this so long ago I cannot remember who that is

My activation went fine. But I cheated slightly and installed reader into my main memory, then activated it, then uninstalled, and reinstalled back onto my SD card, then reactivated it.
