I can't understand 2 things
1) Why falshing back doesn't resolve the problem
2) Why some people have the problem and some others (like me and all the others who hadn't noticed something strange until reading this thread) have no problem.

The answer to the first question could be maybe that the rom upgrade did also a firmware upgrade (it is different the rom upgrade with the firmware upgrade :the firmware is something like the bios). Maybe this firmware upgrade is not flashed back.
Have you checked the bootloader version after flashing back? Has it changed to 1.00 or does it remain 1.01?
Another possible answer (I don't believe it) could be some form of damage during the flash process. But even this is unexplainable.

I have checked standard battery, extended and neodigits case and I can't find any problem at all.

Without flashing back to the 1.00 ROM, I have no way of checking if the bootloader was still at v1.01. Maybe if Alex is still on the original ROM he can check the bootloader version. But what you have said makes sense, if there was a firmware update also.

I agree that it is odd that not everyone is experiencing this problem.

Here is some info from my HP Asset Viewer:
Version
Product Revision Level : 1.0
ROM Date : 04/13/05
ROM Revision : 1.10.08 ENG
OS Version : Windows CE 4.21
Bootloader Version : 1.01
XIP Version : 4.21.15045.0

Maybe the problem is with the Product Revision Level. drkostas, does this info match yours? Alex, does your info match this?

Yes, this is exactly the same. But it would be better if we compared more information. Could you go to Advanced Details. A word document is going to open..
Go to tools -->File--> Save Document As..
Save it, then open it.. Delete your Name, mail, Serial number and all other important information and send it please to me to compare it with mine.

I'll send it to you shortly, as soon as my full backup completes. Want me to email it to you, or just post it here (minus all personal info)?

Here is info from my HP Asset Viewer

Version
Product Revision Level : 1.0
ROM Date : 09/02/04
ROM Revision : 1.00.09 ENG
OS Version : Windows CE 4.21
Bootloader Version : 1.01
XIP Version : 4.21.14132.0

So, as we can see, the Bootloader has the same version.
Is this a key?

Yes, I believe this is the answer to the first question (why flashing back does not resolve the problem).
It is probably a firmware upgrade during the rom upgrade , which is not flashed back.
The other question about why some people have the problem and some others haven't it could be explained with different hardware revisions. This could be also an explanation why hp has not found the problem during rom testing process (maybe tests done in units which didn't show any problems)

This makes good sense. Well done, drkostas! You are probably the first to notice that. How make HP provide us with 1.00 ROM update with an old Bootloader included?

Guys....

I've been following all the ROM upgrade threads with great interest, not having done mine yet I wanted to see what happened to the other users.

With regards to the Bootloader, I thought you might like to know that an original untouched hx4700 has the following information...

Product Revision Level: 1.0
ROM Date: 09/02/04
ROM Revision: 1.00.09 ENG
OS Version: Windows CE 4.21
Bootloader Version: 1.01
XIP Version: 4.21.14132.0

Which means Alexs Hx is back to pre-upgrade specs.

With regrards to hardware revisions, when did you guys buy your Hx4700?

I purchased mine in at the end of March, so is still fairly new.

Also as a side note for you, I was reading a while ago that some users were having problems running applications written in .Net and there was a test to see if you Hx could run the .Net apps or not. I'm not saying that this is related but given that the test was being run on ROM v1.00.09 machines and it worked for some users but failed for others possibly means that there may have been a hardware/firmware revision somewhere down the line. Mine passed the .Net test, by the way.

Bought mine in November of last year, and it too passed that .Net test.

What a pity! The idea of Bootloader gave birth to hopes..... What causes the problem then? I am lost in conjectures.

I was hoping the same with the Bootloader question Alex. Now I am just aggravated again.

Another note, the charging time seems to be almost as fast as the discharge time, either using a charge/sync cable, cradle, or the AC cable.

I bought mine in april and it failed the test. But I don't think it's somehow connected with battery.
