I have this happen sometimes with a soft reset. Sometimes I have to press the soft reset as many as five times (not rapidly, wait 5-10 seconds between each), to get the progress bar to appear and the soft reset to complete. I don't know why it happens, and it is only a slight annoyance to me.

I had exactly the same problem with no progress bar appearing and tried to soft reset several times. In the end I had to bite the bullet and hard reset. Good luck
