ipaq hx4700 ActiveSync Problem with Act! Link for Pocket PC
Hi - I wonder if anyone can please help or advise. For some reason, I can no longer get my hx4700 to synchronise properly with my Act! Version 6 desktop. I've tried ActiveSync versions 3.7.1 and 3.8, reset my pc, reset my handheld, uninstalled Act! Link for pocket pc then installed it again.
It starts off by appearing to synchronise, then looks like it's restarting the synchronising, then comes up with 'Not Connected'. It is a real pain. Any advice would be much appreciated. I'm an i.t. dummmy, by the way! I've recently installed SageLine 50 accounting which integrates with Act! (but doesn't appear on my pda and I don;t need it to) and also a new HP printer, but I can't see how this can be the problem.
Cheers
Hugh

I have no experience on your applications; however, I experienced similar situtations with various device drivers installations. Usually, uninstalling all applications and re-installing all the related applications will make the synchronization work again; however, the installation procedure has to be followed closely. A hard lesson that I learn is that the installation procedure has to be followed closely or complications will occur. Some device applications require NOT connecting the device (like Hx4700) to the computer until the application installation procedure instructs you to do so.

For example, installing ActiveSync procedure seems instructing the user NOT connecting Hx4700 to the PC before the installation. If installing ActiveSync to the PC while Hx4700 is already attached to the PC, the synchronization will encounter problem.

Did you have the cradle connected to your PC when you installed Activesync? If so unplug it, uninstall AS, reboot your PC, start installing AS and follow the instructions.

If not, have you tried recreating the partnership?

When not connected open Activesync on your PC and go to Fles>Delete Partnership (save the files when it asks).

Then soft reset your iPaq and try again.

We also are having trouble getting ACT to sync with our hx4700's. We have 2 that sync to separate computers and our ACT is on our business server. Everything worked fine to start with, and now ACT will either not sync or in 1 case it doubled all the entries on one of the PDA's! And now we cannot get the doubled contacts removed from the PDA! Help!
